WOW what a quiet year I have had so far in blogging terms but WOW what a busy year I have had just living!
For the first three months of this year, my partner and I moved to the heart of Silicon Valley in San Jose CA. For two geeks, travelling less than a mile and seeing iconic techie offices was surreal and fantastic. You really feel in the midst of all the innovation with Apple, Google, Adobe, Facebook, Twitter etc etc all on your doorstep.
So for 12 weeks we were in our element.
But it wasn’t all work and no play:

For my future Mother in Law’s 60th, I created this chocolate and raspberry birthday cake.
Chocolate sponge with a raspberry jam and milk chocolate buttercream centre. I then smothered the rest of the buttercream around the outside and topped it off with Cadburys chocolate fingers and fresh raspberries.
and it was a success!
I really must try this! Creamy Camembert, Bacon & Mushroom Spaghetti.
When I had my old job I worked earlier hours which meant I would finish work at half three and have more time in the evening (I did however go to bed pretty early). This meant that I actually got to spend more time in the kitchen and I pretty much always baked at least once a week. Recently I have become a bit slack on baking and therefore I felt the urge to make cupcakes. I didn’t want to make just any cupcakes; I wanted to try something a little bit different. We have had a bottle of baileys opened in our cupboard since I make a baileys cheesecake back in March, so I figured making these cupcakes was a perfect excuse to use it up.
